Solar panel and battery warranties in Nigeria: what to check before you buy
Product, performance and workmanship warranties explained — and why who administers the claim in Nigeria matters more than the number of years.

A long warranty is only as good as the process for claiming on it. A 10-year battery warranty that requires you to ship a module to another country is worth far less than it sounds.
Four different warranties
- Panel performance — output stays above a stated percentage for a stated period.
- Inverter product warranty — repair or replacement of a faulty unit.
- Battery warranty — usually stated in years and sometimes in cycles or energy throughput; read both.
- Workmanship — the installer's promise about the installation itself: cabling, mounting, protection.
Questions to ask
- Who administers a claim in Nigeria, and what is the process?
- Is the equipment registered with the manufacturer under your name or site?
- What voids the warranty — unauthorised modifications, over-discharge, no surge protection?
- Are replacement units held in Nigeria?
