Solar panel prices in Nigeria (2026): a buyer's guide
How to compare solar panel prices in Nigeria — wattage, cell type, warranty and where the panel came from — without being misled by the headline price.

Panel prices in Nigeria change with supplier stock and the exchange rate, so a printed price list ages quickly. The skills that do not age are how to compare two panels fairly and how to spot a bad deal.
Compare per watt, not per panel
A 620 W panel and a 550 W panel are different products. Divide the price by the rated wattage to compare cost per watt, then check that both ratings come from the manufacturer's datasheet, not a sticker.
What else is on the datasheet
- Cell type — N-type modules generally degrade more slowly than older P-type designs.
- Bifacial or mono-facial — bifacial panels gain from reflected light on light-coloured roofs and ground mounts.
- Temperature coefficient — matters in northern Nigeria's heat; lower is better.
- Performance warranty — typically 25 years or more on reputable modules; check it is registered in Nigeria.
Where the panel came from
Ask for the invoice from a Nigerian distributor and the serial numbers. Grey-import panels may carry no enforceable warranty in Nigeria, which makes a cheaper panel expensive the first time it fails.
Panels are rarely the biggest cost
In a system with batteries, the storage and inverter usually cost more than the panels. Buying on panel price alone optimises the smallest line. MGM's packages list the complete system price, installed.
